The Tragedy of Love

Jeremy and China are like typical teenagers today because they did what every teenager do with their couple, I mean they have a very active relationship. However, Jeremy and China are very irresponsible people since they kill someone, just because they did not want to ruin their life. They were young and love and their parents left them do whatever they wanted. For me love doesn't mean to do everything for someone. Love doesn't mean that someone going to kill just because the love of someone else is insane. 

"The Love of my Life" by T.C. Boyle is a story full of emotions and tragedy. This story begins with a couple of teenagers who are Jeremy and China, they were madly in love, they were always together, their love was invincible, and there was nothing to separate them. Jeremy and China were a lovely couple, but when China gets pregnant, their lovely relationship began to fade away because they made the wrong decision. When China, tells Jeremy that she is pregnant, he stays in shock for a moment. After that moment, they both have a lot of discussions and preoccupations about them. Their entire situation is caused by that huge love they both share, but at the same time, it caused them trouble.

This story made me realize that relationships do many things without thinking clearly. The relation of Jeremy and China were very beautiful and wrong because they did not measure their risk of their relationship. It is true that having a baby at a young age is difficult, but that doesn't mean that we have to get rid of him. However, is it possible that love becomes strong enough to face any problem that gets in our way? In the case of Jeremy and China NO!.

In the article “Modern Farmer” argues that the field workers are the key to the U.S. food system. Although the population relies on their labor to put food on the table, these workers face exploitation and live in fear. In this article shows us that 6 out of 10 of farm workers are undocumented in America and they are working in the field because the bosses don't ask for any document to work there. Most people don’t know what it is to work on the fields, how hard it is, and how important it is for the local businesses. Being a field worker implies to risk the worker’s life, to impair the worker’s health and define it for their future and work for like ten to twelve hours and getting paid way below minimum wage. According to Cesar Chavez, he said that “preservation of one’s not requiring contempt or disrespect for other cultures.” and this is the majority of people judging the field workers without knowing their history. People who work at the field end up with health problems such as allergies, back problems, joint problems that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. If people had a moment to think about it, they would realize that field workers work way harder like nobody in this world.

When my dad started working in the field it was very difficult for him, since he was not used to working there. Working in the field for him was very exhausting, the pay wasn't very good, and almost did not have breaks to eat. My father didn't like to work there, but he had no other choice because in the Imperial Valley there was not so much work. My dad works there because he had to support his family since that was his priority; he wanted to see us happy. My dad didn't like it to rain in Imperial Valley because if it rained there was no work since the soil of the field got too wet and nobody could work. Then the workers had to wait like three days for the soil to dry completely to return to work. Something that my father said when he worked in the field was “I don't want any of my daughters to be field workers, I prefer to hurt myself for their future.” For my dad, working in the field was never a shame and thanks to that effort working in the field, he was able to take his family forward in this country. Even though the work was very heavy, he never complained because the purpose of he was to get out ahead with his family.

Ender’s Shadow

This book is one of my favorites because it is about aliens who want to invade the earth. I really enjoyed this book because everything that has to do with aliens I love it. The title of the book is Ender's Shadow is a parallel science fiction novel by the American author Orson Scott Card.  I read this book about two years ago and I read it for fun, since reading often relaxes me. I remember that I read this book in my house listening music. When I read the book and listened to music at the same time, I imagined the scenes of the book. I remember that this book had a friend, since his English teacher had assigned it to him. Then, I was very impressed by the cover of the book, which said Ender's Shadows, and I bought it in the bookstore. This book is about aliens who want to invade the earth. This book it’s very interesting, since they are children who fight against the aliens. I remember it because that book has a movie and every time when I watch the movie I remember the book. I really like everything about the book, but what I really liked was when Bean met Ender. They throughout history fight against aliens who wants to destroy the earth, but supposedly that fight was an exam. Finally, Bean and Ender realize that they were fighting in real life and it was not just a game. Of course I would recommend this book. However, this book is about science fiction not everyone likes this kind of stories, but people who like this kind of stories would love this book. I would recommend it because this book describes places and people very well that you can even imagine, it's as if it were a comic but without drawings everything is mental.

Cause and Effect

    People tend to be racist about agricultural workers, but they don’t know the story behind it. In the article “Morder Farmer", describes how people often see agricultural workers and feel ashamed of them or disrespect them, but  to be a field worker it's not as easy as people think. It is true, we as people tend to react differently towards situations without reflecting that is to say, we judge people. However, working on the field is an honorable job. Agricultural workers are one large group of people whose work is to maintain the local businesses and even the country’s economy. However, society, racism comes first rather than acceptance and equality for all. people from the same ethnic group criticize themselves without realizing the story behind their families and like to make themselves superior under certain situations, but aren’t superior at all. "Once people realize how hard and tough it is to be an agricultural worker they might end up changing their minds". It is true that working in the field will never be easy because it is a very hard job and ignorant people will never understand.

 In Morder Farmer we learn, for the state’s first hundred-plus years, certain unspoken rules governed California politics. In a state where agriculture produced more wealth than any industry, the first rule was that growers held enormous power. Tax dollars built giant water projects that turned the Central and Imperial Valleys into some of the nation’s most productive farmland. Land ownership was concentrated in huge corporate plantation-like farms. Growers used political power to assure a steady flow of workers from one country after another—Japan, China, the Philippines, Yemen, India, and of course Mexico—to provide the labor that made the land productive. More and more health-conscious individuals are scrutinizing the source of the food their family consumes. However, even the most conscientious consumer is not fully aware of the exhaustive efforts and struggle to get a juicy, ripe strawberry or that plump tomato in the middle of winter. These foods are harvested and picked mostly by seasonal and field workers. field workers must endure challenging conditions so that Americans can have the beautiful selection of berries, tomatoes, and other fresh foods often found at places like a farmer’s market or a traditional super market.

     Since I was born, my father has always been a hard-working man who has given us support and love for his family. He is the most special person in my life. He is a very good dad for me. My dad had always tried to give us the best by working hard every day. I have always been very proud of him because he never gave up. Although my father was tired from work, he always had time to be with his family.
 I remember that at weekends he loved to play with me the whole day. He has always taught me good values. He has gifted me many things that I always wish to have. My Dad has always tried the best to make me a good human being. He wanted to spend time with his family because he missed them.

            However, with the economic crisis on 2008 a lot of people loosed the jobs included my dad. That crisis affected us in the family. Also, my dad got stressed because he couldn't find work anywhere. I remember that my dad was looking for work everywhere but nobody hired him. It passed a month and he didn't find any work, so my dad met a friend and told him that there was a lot of work in the field. My dad thought about it many times if it was good work in the field because he knew that work was very tired, hard, and the paid was not very good. After, he started working in the field. When he started working in the fields, he always complained that her body hurt, he came home and went straight to sleep because the next day he had to get up at 3 in the morning to go back to work. I start thinking about all those terrible conditions in which agricultural workers are exposed and how my dad kept working to give us a better life, even knowing that working in the fields are very dangerous and difficult.

Field Workers

         Work in the fields is one of the most dangerous jobs in the United States, but many people work there because they need a quick job and easy money. Field workers are very common to be seen around the Imperial Valley. However, the question is who are the workers in the field are and what is known about them? Field workers are those workers, who go to work  on the fields,but people tend to generalize and say that they are just a bunch of wet backs, but that is just an old and silly racist generalization. Most people don’t know what it is to work on the fields, how hard it is, and how important it is for the local businesses. Being a field worker implies to risk the worker’s life, to impair the worker’s health and define it for their future and work for like 12 hours and getting paid way below minimum wage. My father, is a field worker and while many people think is it an embarrassing job, I realize it might be the hardest and most tiresome job for him. My dad always wakes up at 3 am, so he can be waiting for his ride since 4  am, but the workers start working around 5 and 6 am. They work until 5 pm and throughout their working hours they have 30 minutes to eat and 15 minutes to take a break. They have many risks at the work because they are exposed to insecticides, chemicals used in the crops, being bitten by poisonous insects such as spiders and snakes. People who work at the field end up with health problems such as allergies, respiratory diseases, back problems, joint problems that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Many field workers continue to work no matter how heavy that job is; they will always continue working for support their families. Finally, if people had a moment to think about it, they would realize that field workers work way harder in a day than someone who works at a restaurant cooking burgers.

Abstract- Bipolar Disorder

      This paper is the prescription of some of the risks associated with Bipolar Disorder and the lived experiences of people or famous with Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain and behavior disorder characterized by severe shifts in a person's mood and energy, making it difficult for the person to function. More than 5.7 million American adults or 2.6 percent of the population age 18 or older in any given year have bipolar disorder. The condition typically starts in late adolescence or early adulthood, although it can show up in children and in older adults. This is what happened to Demi Lovato. Before Demi received her diagnosis, she spent a lot of her life feeling vulnerable, sad and withdrawn. At times she couldn’t even find the strength to get out of bed. After years of abusing her body and self-medicating, she hit rock bottom and was admitted to an inpatient treatment facility. This is when she was finally diagnosed with the depressive phase of bipolar disorder, called bipolar depression. This is a hard mental illness, but there are always ways to control them. The final point of this paper is Demi was working with her support team she was able to partner with a health care professional, open up to family and friends, and over time find a treatment plan that worked for her.

      Being honest, I have never seen this show before, but it is cool and creepy at the same time. Eye of the Beholder, I think it is a really good episode and very interesting and clear in its theme. The theme of this episode is obviously stereotype, prejudice, discrimination and racism. It shows that there isn't a certain way to look like; it is just different thought or point of view of the viewer. It is important because is a really old way of thinking that different people should place in certain area with people of its kind, nobody really thinks that exact way as shown on the video. It relates to real life it's been more than 50 years since humanity politically end up with racism and how can it still be out there around our country, community and our world. It also relates to me because I have Mexican roots and I know people who dislike me just because of my roots. I think the scene that really showed its point was the last scene where everyone has deformed faces except for Ms. Tyler and the man, but that's the point, just because we aren't used to see people with faces like those we think it's wrong being different. It is just prejudice coming from different thoughts and opinions. In Conclusion, I really liked this video because it makes people reflect on what the world is like. However, nobody does anything to change it and they only prefer to discriminate and judge without knowing what is happening. Humanity might think we are building a better world, but in retrospective we are making the same old mistakes again and it will bring consequences just like the past.
